Warranty & Registration

Coverage, claims and registering

What does the Select Brands warranty cover?

Every Select Brands appliance comes with a one-year limited warranty plus: one year of standard coverage, with extended warranty options available on select products. The standard warranty covers manufacturing, material and mechanical defects for one year from the date of purchase or delivery, whichever is later. If your product is defective during that time, we'll repair or replace it at our option. Products with an extended option list it on their product page.

The warranty applies to the original retail purchaser, isn't transferable, and covers products bought from Select Brands or an authorized seller in the United States. Read the complete Limited Warranty.

Link to this answer

Do any products have extended warranty options?

Yes. On top of our standard one-year limited warranty, select products offer extended warranty options. When a product has one, you'll see it on that product's page. If you have a question about coverage for a product you already own, call 866-663-4500 (Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM Central) or email support@selectbrands.com.

Link to this answer

What isn't covered by the warranty?

The warranty doesn't cover:

  • Normal wear of parts
  • Damage from misuse, negligence or use that goes against the instruction manual
  • Lack of routine maintenance, such as descaling
  • Improper voltage or current, including use with converters outside the U.S.
  • Damage during shipping, handling or storage by someone other than Select Brands
  • Repairs or alterations by anyone other than Select Brands
  • Fire, flood and other acts of nature

How do I file a warranty claim?

  1. Call Customer Service at 866-663-4500 (Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM Central) or email support@selectbrands.com.
  2. Our team will try to solve the problem with you first and may walk you through a few quick checks.
  3. If the product needs to be replaced or repaired, have these ready: your model number, your proof of purchase (receipt or order confirmation showing where and when you bought it), a short description of the problem, and photos or a short video.
  4. If we ask you to send the product in, we'll give you shipping instructions to our facility in Lenexa, Kansas. Shipping costs to and from Select Brands are the customer's responsibility.
Link to this answer

Do I need my receipt for warranty service?

Yes. Proof of purchase is required for warranty service or a replacement. A store receipt, packing slip or online order confirmation that shows the retailer and purchase date works. We recommend saving a photo of your receipt as soon as you buy.

Link to this answer

How do I register my product?

Fill out our short Product Registration form with your contact information, model number and purchase details. Registering puts your purchase on file with us, which makes future support faster.

Link to this answer

Do I have to register my product to be covered?

No. Registration is optional, and skipping it doesn't reduce your warranty rights in any way. Keep your proof of purchase, since that's what we need for warranty service.

Link to this answer

If my product is replaced under warranty, does the warranty start over?

No. A replacement product carries the remaining time on your original warranty. The one-year period still counts from your original purchase or delivery date.

Link to this answer

Is my product covered if I bought it from a third-party seller or marketplace?

Products bought from Select Brands, our official Amazon store or an authorized retailer are covered. We may not be able to honor warranty claims for products bought from unauthorized sellers or websites, because we can't confirm how those products were handled or whether they're new. If you're not sure whether a seller is authorized, call 866-663-4500 (Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM Central) or email support@selectbrands.com.

Find your model and its manual

Manual finder

Type the model number from your rating label. Includes current and discontinued products.

Can’t find your model? Email support@selectbrands.com and we’ll send an electronic copy.

Where do I find my model number?

Turn the appliance over and look for the rating label on the bottom of the base. It lists the brand, the model number, the electrical rating (volts, hertz and watts), the safety testing standard and the country of origin. The model number is also printed on the front cover of your instruction manual.

On some products the rating label is molded into the plastic housing, which can make it harder to read. Try angling a flashlight across the surface.

    • Your model number (see where to find it)

Can I get internal components to repair my appliance?

No. For your safety, we don't sell internal electrical or heating components. If an internal part fails during the warranty period, contact us about a warranty claim.

Can I use third-party accessories or parts?

We recommend using only accessories and parts made for your model. Parts from other brands may not fit or seal correctly, can affect performance and safety, and damage they cause isn't covered by the warranty.

    Care & Cleaning

    Cleaning, descaling and dishwashers

    Which parts are dishwasher safe?

It depends on the product. Many removable parts, such as blender jars and blades, hand mixer beaters, chopper bowls and can opener cutting assemblies, are dishwasher safe. Your instruction manual lists exactly which parts can go in the dishwasher.

Hand washing removable parts helps them last longer. Never put a motor base, heating base, cord or plug in the dishwasher or under running water.

How do I clean nonstick and ceramic cooking plates?

    1. Unplug the appliance and let it cool completely.
    2. Wipe the plates with a damp cloth or soft sponge and a little mild dish soap.
    3. For baked-on batter, place a damp paper towel on the plates for a few minutes to soften it, then wipe.

Avoid metal utensils, scouring pads and abrasive cleaners, which can scratch the coating. Use a silicone or wooden utensil to lift food out.

How do I descale my coffee maker or espresso machine?

Mineral buildup from water slows brewing and can affect taste, so descale regularly. How often depends on your water hardness and how much you brew.

    • Drip and single-serve coffee makers: run a descaling cycle with a coffee-maker descaling solution as described in your manual, then run two or three cycles of fresh water to rinse.
    • TRU Automatic Espresso and Coffee Machine (CM-1588): use the built-in descaling program from the touchscreen menu. The machine also has automatic rinsing and deep-cleaning cycles.

Skipping routine descaling can cause damage that isn't covered by the warranty.

How should I care for my slow cooker's stoneware insert?

    • Let the insert cool before washing, and never put a hot insert in cold water or on a cold or wet surface. Stoneware can crack from sudden temperature changes.
    • Don't use the insert on a stovetop or under a broiler.
    • You can use the insert for oven baking up to 400°F without the lid.
    • Set the insert down gently on hard countertops.
    Link to this answer

The bottom of my slow cooker insert isn't glazed. Is that a defect?

No, that's normal. During manufacturing, the glazed insert sits on a fixture as it moves through the curing oven, so the spot where it rests may not get coated. It doesn't affect cooking or food safety.

    Safety & Materials

Coatings, PFAS, Prop 65 and safe use

Does your nonstick coating contain PFOA, PTFE or Teflon?

Our coatings contain no PFOA. Here's what we use:

    • PTFE nonstick: some of our products use a PTFE-based nonstick coating that complies with U.S. FDA rules for food contact. We don't use the Teflon brand, which is a trademark of another company.
    • Ceramic nonstick: many of our waffle, treat and sandwich makers, skillets and griddles are available with a ceramic coating as an alternative to PTFE.

Our coatings are properly cured, and our appliances are designed to operate below the temperatures at which PTFE breaks down. For model-by-model details, see our Chemicals Disclosure.

    Link to this answer

    Do your products contain PFAS?

Products with a PTFE nonstick coating contain PFAS chemicals (PTFE, PFA or FEP), which give the coating its nonstick properties. Colorado law (H.B. 22-1345) asks us to disclose this. Products with a ceramic coating don't use PTFE.

Our Chemicals Disclosure lists every covered model and its coating so you can choose with confidence.

    Link to this answer

What is the Chemicals Disclosure and why do you publish it?

California law (A.B. 1200) and Colorado law (H.B. 22-1345) require manufacturers of cookware and kitchen appliances to disclose certain intentionally added chemicals in food-contact parts and handles. Our Chemicals Disclosure lists those results by product category and model number, with links to the authoritative chemical lists.

The products listed comply with U.S. FDA limits and rules for materials in direct contact with food.

My product has a California Proposition 65 warning. What does that mean?

California's Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, known as Proposition 65, requires a warning on products that contain any of a long list of chemicals, even in very small amounts. Because we sell the same products nationwide, including in California, you'll see this label on many of our products no matter where you live. The warning doesn't mean a product violates any safety standard.

    Link to this answer

Do your slow cooker inserts contain lead?

No. Our stoneware inserts never contain lead or cadmium, and they meet U.S. FDA requirements for food contact.

    Link to this answer

    Are your food-contact plastics BPA-free?

All of our food-contact materials meet U.S. FDA requirements. Specific materials vary by model, and our Chemicals Disclosure lists the results for each covered model, including any that contain bisphenol A (BPA). If you have a question about a specific product, call 866-663-4500 (Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM Central) or email support@selectbrands.com.

My new appliance smells like it's burning. Is that normal?

A light odor or a little smoke during the first one or two uses is normal for new heating appliances. It comes from protective manufacturing oils burning off the heating element. Run the appliance empty for a few minutes with good ventilation, as your manual describes.

If there's heavy smoke, a strong melting-plastic smell, or the odor continues after a few uses, unplug the appliance right away and contact us.

    Link to this answer

Are your products safe for kids to use?

Cooking together is one of our favorite ways to make memories, and many of our designs are made with families in mind. Our appliances heat up and have moving parts, though, so they aren't designed for children to use without adult supervision. Keep appliances and cords out of reach of children when in use and while cooling.

    Link to this answer

How much space should I leave around my appliance?

Place heating appliances on a dry, flat, heat-resistant surface and leave several inches of clearance on all sides, especially around air vents. Don't use them under hanging cabinets, near curtains or on top of other appliances. Your instruction manual lists the exact clearance for your model.

    Link to this answer

Can I use an extension cord?

We recommend plugging appliances directly into a wall outlet. If you must use an extension cord, its electrical rating has to be at least as high as the appliance's wattage, and it should be arranged so it can't be pulled or tripped over. Your manual has specific guidance for your model.

    Link to this answer

Why does my appliance trip the circuit breaker?

High-wattage appliances like air fryers, griddles, toaster ovens and kettles draw a lot of power. Running two or more on the same circuit can trip the breaker. Check the wattage on each appliance's rating label, and plug high-wattage appliances into outlets on different circuits.

    Is your packaging recyclable?

    Product Help

Air fryers, espresso, slow cookers and more

Why does my air fryer show an error code or stop heating?

Most air fryer errors relate to overheating, a sensor or basket placement. Try these steps:

    1. Unplug the air fryer and let it cool for 10 to 15 minutes.
    2. Make sure the basket is fully seated and clicks into place.
    3. Check that the air vents aren't blocked and there's clearance around the unit.
    4. Plug it back in and try again.

Your instruction manual lists what each error code means for your model. If the code returns, contact us.

    Link to this answer

How do I get crispier results from my air fryer?

    • Preheat for a few minutes before adding food.
    • Cook in a single layer and don't overfill the basket. Hot air needs room to circulate.
    • Shake or flip food halfway through cooking.
    • Pat food dry and use a light coat of oil from a brush or mister. Aerosol cooking sprays can build up on nonstick coatings.
    Link to this answer

Why is my air fryer smoking?

Smoke usually comes from fat dripping onto hot surfaces or from leftover grease. Empty and clean the basket and drawer after every use, add a few tablespoons of water to the drawer when cooking fatty foods, and wipe the inside of the unit once it cools. If smoke comes from the appliance body rather than the food, unplug it and contact us.

    Link to this answer

My coffee maker isn't brewing. What should I check first?

    1. Power: confirm the outlet works and the cord is fully plugged in.
    2. Setup: make sure the reservoir has water, the filter basket is seated correctly and the lid is closed.
    3. Filter: use the filter size and type listed in your manual. An overfilled or wrong-size filter can overflow or stop flow.
    4. Descale: mineral buildup is the most common cause of slow or stopped brewing. Run a descaling cycle.

Still stuck? Contact us. A short video of the issue helps our team diagnose it quickly.

What can the TRU Automatic Espresso and Coffee Machine make?

The TRU Automatic Espresso and Coffee Machine (model CM-1588) grinds, tamps and brews in under 60 seconds. It has:

    • 24 customizable preset drinks, including espresso, Americano, latte, cappuccino and flat white
    • A 4.5-inch color touchscreen to adjust strength, milk volume and temperature
    • An integrated burr grinder with a 150-gram bean hopper
    • A 19-bar pressure pump
    • A removable milk tank and a 1.5-liter removable water tank
    • Automatic rinsing, deep cleaning and descaling programs

It runs on a standard 120V outlet at 1450 watts.

    Link to this answer

Why is my espresso weak or watery?

    • Use fresh whole beans. Pre-ground or stale coffee extracts poorly.
    • Increase the strength setting for that drink on the touchscreen.
    • Make sure the bean hopper isn't empty.
    • Run the cleaning and descaling programs if it's been a while. Buildup affects pressure and flavor.

Can I use boxed cake mix in my Babycakes treat maker?

Absolutely. Regular cake, muffin and brownie mixes all work. Mix them according to the package directions and bake as described in your Babycakes instruction manual. Different mixes rise differently, so your first batch may take a little experimenting with fill level and time.

    Link to this answer

Why is batter sticking to my waffle or treat maker?

    • Let the appliance fully preheat. The ready light tells you when.
    • Lightly brush the plates with oil or melted butter before the first batch.
    • Don't open the lid early. Batter releases once it's cooked through.
    • Clean the plates after every use. Leftover residue makes later batches stick.
    Link to this answer

My slow cooker seems to cook too fast or too slow. Is it working correctly?

Newer slow cookers often run hotter than older models, which were designed to meet earlier food safety standards. Food on LOW should simmer gently, and food on HIGH reaches a simmer faster.

    • Fill the insert between half and two-thirds full for best results.
    • Keep the lid closed. Each time you lift it, cooking slows down.
    • Cut ingredients into even sizes.

If food isn't reaching a simmer at all, contact us.

    Link to this answer

Why is my toaster browning unevenly?

    • Bread thickness and moisture vary, so very thick or frozen slices may need the bagel or frozen setting.
    • Empty the crumb tray regularly. Crumb buildup affects heating.
    • When toasting several batches back to back, lower the shade setting slightly, since the toaster is already warm.
